Prevalence of <i>KIR2DL2/DS2</i> and <i>KIR2DL3</i> and Presence of B19V in Patients with Thyroid Disorders

Abstract The functions of human natural killer cells are controlled by diverse families antigen receptors. Prominent among these the cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIR), a family genes clustered in one most variable regions genome — on chromosome 19q13.4. This study aimed to investigate possible interplay between KIR allotype, B19 infection, and thyroid disorders. Thyroid gland tissue 30 patients with autoimmune diseases (AITD), non-autoimmune (non-AITD) deceased subjects whose histories did not show any or (control group) were enrolled study. presence B19V, KIR2DL2/DS2, KIR2DL3 was detected using PCRs (nPCR, PCR). results showed that 28% samples from AITD 67% non-AITD positive for contrast only 5% control harbored B19V DNA. B19V-positive had higher frequency KIR2DL2/DS2 homozygosity lower homozygous genotype compared negative cases (33% vs 21% 17% 46%, respectively).
